Hey there! I’m Valery Brennan - the woman behind this whole thing.
My journey with loving T-shirts dates back to when I was a kid…before I was even in school. My dad ran a screen printing t-shirt shop for most of my childhood. I spent a LOT of time watching him work, running errands with him and using up all of his AOL discs that he got because he was a business. I always thought it was SO COOL when I would see friends at school who had shirts that my dad printed with his own two hands. It was fascinating.
T-shirts have always been a huge part of my personal style as well, so it was really only a matter of time before I created a t-shirt line of my own. But I wanted to make sure it had meaning. Thus, a feminist t-shirt shop was born! Here at Fiercely, we believe in feminism, we believe in women’s rights, we believe in well-designed shirts that are ethically made, and we believe in giving back.
Ethically made shirts
All of the shirts we sell are ethically produced, with the majority coming from Bella + Canvas. Bella + Canvas shirts are super soft and comfy but more importantly, they’re responsibly made. NO sweatshops, a paper free warehouse, the sewing and cutting floor is solar powered and they practice eco-friendly manufacturing by producing minimal waste.
Our sweatshirts and hoodies come from Gildan. They are accredited by the Fair Labor Association, and have WRAP certified sewing facilities (an independent non-profit organization dedicated to ethical manufacturing processes). You can read more about Gildan’s Labor practices here. http://www1.gildan.com/consumer/en/labor-practices.cfm
The majority of our unisex tees are available in sizes S-4XL and sweatshirts and hoodies are available in sizes S-5XL. But….all sizes are priced the same. No matter what your size, you’ll pay the same price. We don’t carry ladies cut tees in the shop because they run VERY SMALL and exclude many bodies in their sizing. If you would like a ladies cut tee, please reach out to us and we may be able to accommodate you!
When you purchase a feminist shirt from Fiercely, we make a donation to an organization on your behalf. We currently sponsor five organizations, at checkout you can select the organization you would like to benefit from your purchase:
End the Backlog - End the Backlog focuses on shining a light on the rape kit backlog in the United States. They seek to change attitudes about sexual violence and abuse, educate the public, improve systems to lessen the trauma survivors experience and ensure greater access to justice for survivors.
Trans Lifeline - Trans Lifeline is a national trans-led 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to improving the quality of trans lives by responding to the critical needs of our community with direct service, material support, advocacy, and education. Our vision is to fight the epidemic of trans suicide and improve overall life-outcomes of trans people by facilitating justice-oriented, collective community aid.
Sustainable Health Enterprises - SHE is helping women in Rwanda jumpstart social businesses to manufacture and distribute affordable menstrual pads. Coupled with health education and advocacy, girls and women will have even more productive lives than before.
Sex Workers Outreach Project - A national social justice network dedicated to the fundamental human rights of people involved in the sex trade and their communities, focusing on ending violence and stigma through education and advocacy.
Women’s Prison Association - WPA works with women at all stages of criminal justice involvement. They promote alternatives to incarceration and help women living in the community to avoid arrest or incarceration by making positive changes in their lives. Inside prison and jail, they are a source of support to women and a resource to them as they plan for release. After incarceration, women come to WPA for help to build the lives they want for themselves and their families in the community.
Planned Parenthood - Planned Parenthood delivers vital reproductive health care, sex education, and information to millions of women, men, and young people worldwide.
